About G.H.O.S.T.,
Inc.
Most of us came to this group from other groups and some
never had any experience in the field of Paranormal research but had a strong
personal interest. Either way, we strive to provide the best, thorough and honest
scientifically based research we can. With this field in it's infancy, it is a
constant learning process for us all. Scientifically based meaning we
investigate to collect actual data via electronic equipment. Although we have
used psychics as a method of insight, clarification and assistance in
identification of potential "hotspots", we use their input as a guideline only,
not as evidence. We do not offer cleansings, crossing over spirits or so called
"spirit salvation" as we feel this should ONLY be conducted by those with proper
and adequate training and experience. Reading a book or ebook is not training
and in no way adequate for this function. If we find actual evidence of
paranormal activity that can be backed up with date, we will assist you in
finding a spiritual leader of your choosing and/or someone adequately trained in
dealing with such activity in attempt to rid your location of such activity.
Many refer to Paranormal Investigators as "Ghost
Hunters". That's well and fine but not exactly accurate. We don't "hunt" ghosts.
We go where asked to investigate to determine if what is being experiences is
paranormal or natural. We seek the truth and to help others with that truth. If
we happen to capture a ghost on our equipment, that's great. Our main goal is to
help those experiencing activity they don't understand or which may be causing
them concern, confusion and even fear.
We only cite as evidence of paranormal what we can back
up with data as evidence, not merely offering an uneducated or untrained
opinion.
In addition to providing free paranormal
investigations, we strive to educate the public on the paranormal through our
web site, public speaking, displays and community involvement. We are as eager
to learn more as we are to share what we have learned.
Many paranormal research groups put "Inc." behind their name or refer to
themselves as a "non-profit organization" when they in fact are not. G.H.O.S.T,
Inc is in fact Incorporated with the State of Tennessee as a non-profit
organization. We don't just say we are because we think it makes us look
credible or because we don't charge for our services. We say it because we are
and can provide State records for verification.
FAQ's About Us
1.
What are our day jobs? Most of us have them, and they range
from manufacturing work to corporate management to owning our own businesses.
However, we do have many disabled members in our group as well, and strive to
provide a diverse range of forums to allow our members the opportunity to
participate fully.
2.
What are our educational backgrounds? Educational
backgrounds range from high school diplomas and GEDs all the way up to PhDs, and
a vast array of personal experiences in between. The great thing about our team
is we use our individual skill sets wherever they fit in best for the group –
all skill sets are treated with an equal amount of respect.
3.
What are our religious backgrounds? Most of the members
come from Christian backgrounds (different denominations), although we have
members from Buddhist, Pagan, Wicca, Agnostic and other backgrounds. Having a
diversified religious background allows our group to look at potential
paranormal activity and influence from a multi-dimensional perspective. We
operate in an environment of respect and tolerance of each member’s religious
background.
4.
How did we get interested in ghost hunting? Some members
grew up having personal experiences other members have never had any. Some
members seem to be sensitive to paranormal activity, other members couldn’t
sense paranormal phenomena if it was standing right in front of them. The
reasons for our interest vary greatly, but our desire to find physical
scientific proof of ghosts is our common goal.
5.
When did our group get started? Our six charter members met
for the first time on February 23, 2007. We became incorporated as a nonprofit
organization on April 19, 2007, and hit the ground running! In 2007, we
successfully completed 59 investigations, (as of October 10, 2009) and are actively putting more on
the schedule every month. Some of the investigations reveal possible paranormal
activity while others reveal normal every day explanations for “things that go
bump in the night”.
6.
What is our overriding philosophy or goal? Our group
actively strives to seek out proof of the existence of paranormal activity.
However, we also believe in maintaining due diligence in providing education and
examples of every day occurrences that are often mistaken as paranormal. We also
believe there is high potential for paranormal activity to be influenced or
linked to the history associated with the location of its occurrence and make
efforts to provide information on the local history to our viewers when
possible. We believe in pursuing our interests in a drug and alcohol free
environment, and always with permission from the property owner or
manager (no trespassing or hopping fences to capture evidence). We do not use
tarot cards, Ouija boards, or séances in any of our investigative practices.
7.
How many members do we have? We currently are averaging
about seventeen full time members, with ten to fifteen active consistently.
Membership participation varies depending on available time and interest. Some
members are active on a daily basis. Others are active on a weekly, monthly and
even quarterly basis as their life responsibilities allow them time. We also
work with affiliate groups throughout
Tennessee
and other southeastern states, conducting joint investigations or making
referrals for investigation opportunities falling in their areas.
8.
What are your qualifications for membership? Members must
be at least 21 years of age, never convicted of a felony, drug free, and able to
provide their own transportation to and from group activities. Members must be
able to pay monthly dues of $5.00 in a timely fashion, and cover their own
travel expenses to and from investigation locations. All parties interested in
membership are admitted on a probationary basis. During their probation, members
must attend monthly member meetings, participate in at least two investigations,
evidence review of audio-video-photographic and environmental data, participate
in a committee activity, complete at least one research assignment, and provide
at least one investigative lead.
