“The Truth About
Orbs”
Orbs seem to be the most common form of paranormal activity
reported.
There are several types of orbs, such as; Moisture orbs,
Bug orbs, dust orbs, pollen orbs, other particulate orbs and energy orbs.
Orbs are viewed at as paranormal mostly because some
have little understanding of them or because they don’t always show up in pictures
or video thereby being classified as “anomalies”. In some cases (rarely) they
may actually be paranormal.
Another common factor in orbs being reported as paranormal
is because some have heard the theory that when a “ghost” or “Spirit” is trying
to manifest, they gather energy from the surrounding area. This collection of
energy is believed to cause a reaction with the energy particles which cause a
glowing “orb” which is referred to as an “energy orb”.
If the theory above is true, then of course energy orbs
may actually be a ghost or spirit attempting to manifest, but they may also
simply be natural energy collecting in the air.
First, lets look at the most common orbs reported. One
thing most of them have in common is they are transparent or semi transparent.
In addition, they have a unique texture to them, which is what we use to help
differentiate one from another. Moisture orbs, for example typically have an
union like texture. This onion texture looks like rings within rings inside of
the orb. Moisture orbs also have another tell tail characteristic to them. If
captured in a digital camera, you can zoom in on the orb and see a rainbow like
effect around the edges. This rainbow effect is usually fairly faint but may be
prominent depending on the amount of moisture present when it was captured in
the picture.
A dust orb has a texture that resembles a marble effect or
has the appearance of scattered “dots” within the orb. Many people report these
dots to be in a pattern of a smiley face or other pattern. This is called “matrixing”.
Similar to that of clouds. You can look up into the sky on a cloudy day and pick
out patterns; a bunny cloud, dragon, people or objects. The brain and eyes are
designed to find patterns to it can register in the brain. You can look at
almost anything and pick out a pattern. What you pick out will depend on your
knowledge and experiences and will vary from person to person, unless one person
influences the other into seeing what they see.
Pollen orbs are pollen particulates in the air that is
captured on the camera. They typically have a faint yellow or yellow/green ring
around it, much like the rainbow effect of a moisture orb described above. Then
there are bug orbs. The are small insects or bugs captured in the picture that
seem to form an orb. They are usually fairly solid on the center but become
faint or transparent on or near the outer edges.
One other thing the orbs above have in common is why they
are captured and why they look like an “orb”. This is because of the flash of
the camera or another light source reflecting off the particle causing it to
bounce back to the camera in a circular “orb”.
The one kind of orb that is different is an energy orb. An
energy orb is distinctly solid and not necessarily white. It is solid and bright
because it has it’s own light source, unlike orbs mentioned above. Energy orbs
also match the theory above with regard to ghosts or spirits attempting to
manifest.
If you are going to look for orbs, energy orbs are the
only ones that should be if paranormal interest. But an energy orb isn’t
necessarily a ghost or spirit. Energy in the air is rather common and can be
produced naturally. One example of this is static electricity in the air like
when your hair stands out or clothes stick together from static. This is common
air energy.
So, how do we differentiate natural energy orbs from
unnatural (paranormal) energy? You really can’t. The closest you can come to
this would be with supporting evidence. Meaning if you can correlate other
paranormal phenomena along with the energy orb AND discount natural sources. For
example: If we are investigating a site reported to have paranormal activity and
we get a photo of an energy orb. We cannot find any natural cause for the energy
orb but we did capture an EVP, photo of a ghost, had strong credible personal
experiences at the same time the orb was captured, then we can fit them together
and state with a “probability” that it was paranormal. Remember, the ghosts or
spirits collecting energy in order to manifest is just a theory. As a theory, an
orb cannot be presented as “evidence” of a ghost, spirit or even paranormal at
all. But it can be presented in support of other evidence.
