Background
Information & Reported Activity
History
of the cave includes the 1983 discovery of bones being those of a 3,000 yr
old Native American male between the ages of 20-25 (as tested by University
of Tennessee). 1700’s French trader operating out of the cave to trade with
nearby Cherokee village. Mined for Bat Guano in mid-late 1800’s. Attempt to
build hotel outside mouth of cave which burned down as the final room was
being finished. Former hotel currently being used as meeting place for
Inter-Tribal Association meeting place and Gift Shop. Back during “frontier
times” there had been a small girl (8-10 yrs old) who had been abducted and
taken to the front of the cave where she was brutally murdered. This
abduction is recounted in a book about local kidnappings.
Reported
activity includes hearing voices, seeing “shadow people” being touched.
Tour group count consisting of one extra person which seems to disappear. Hearing
and seeing a female child
Investigation notes
Areas of investigation were, Former Hotel / Gift
shop, outside church area and inside cave (broken up into 3 separate
stations). Broke group into 4 teams (1 team covering gift shop building
(former hotel), 3 teams covering the 3 stations within the cave).
Set-up took an unusually long time due to the
distance within the cave (2 ¼ miles) and lack of electrical resources
within the cave.
Team 1 began in Gift Shop area. They experienced
audible voices (at one point 2 investigators reported the audible voice to
sound like that of a child. Team 1 then moved to the outside church area
then just inside the mouth of the cave (open area) where they experienced a
strong presence which was not backed up with data, video, still pictures or
audio recordings.
Teams 2, 3 and 4 began inside the cave and
rotated within the cave. Team 4 experienced an anomalous EMF reading just
outside the cave. The readings were as high as 62.2, which is considered extremely high. The team leader attempted
to track down the source but was unsuccessful as there were no electrical
wiring/devices present in the local area and the reading was fluctuating,
and coming/going.
Several teams reported hearing voices throughout
the cave. Some of these audible experiences could have been the running water, however, 2 teams stated specifically that they
were not near or within hearing distance of the running water at the time
the voices were heard.
At one point, a Team leader asked if there was
anyone there and if they could throw a rock to indicate their presence. All
the team members claimed hearing a rick being thrown into the water. This
personal experience could have been a rock falling from the ceiling or wall
but this was not verified as being the case.
Although feelings are not viewed at as evidence,
2 of the 4 teams stated they had a strong feeling there were others there
with them and standing right behind them, particularly in the front of the
cave in the large opening area as well as the gift shop area near the
stage.
There was one anomalous temperature fluctuation
in Station #2 area near what was referred to the Stalagmite Forest. The
temperature had been a steady 57.4 degrees when it rapidly elevated to 72.4
degrees. Investigators was unable to determine the
cause for the temperature change which lasted approx 3 minutes.
EVIDENCE
Evidence
is what we can back up with actual date over opinion. “Supporting Evidence”
is information and/or experiences that relate to the evidence in some way,
adding credibility to that evidence.
PERSONAL
EXPERIENCES
Our
team members and Teams had a few personal experiences which could not be
debunked (find logical or known cause) in any way. One Team member asked if
anyone was there, then asked if someone was there to throw a rock into the
water. A couple seconds later, a rock was heard hitting the water. Although
this could have been caused by a falling rock from the ceiling or wall,
this was not noticed and the timing seemed to be in response to the
request.
Team
1, when investigating the meeting area/gift shop, they all simultaneously
heard voices seemingly responding to questions. The voices heard were very
low and neither investigator could make out what was being said but
verified with each other that they were hearing voices. There was no one
anywhere near the building. The closest people were approx 150 ft away,
inside the Command Center (camper) and could not have been heard. These
voices were not caught on the audio equipment for some unknown reason.

Audio
recordings are screened a minimum of 3 times by at least 3 different
members to ensure nothing is overlooked. Once an anomalous or unaccounted
for voice is noticed, that voice is analyzed for voice patterns. If a voice
pattern is present it is compared to the voice patterns of all who were
present on the EVP session. If there is no match or there is no voice
pattern to compare, the recording is further analyzed for frequency and
decibel range of the recording. With
human speech beginning at 375-380 Hz and up to approx 4100 at the top end
making human capability of frequency range from 375 to 4100 Hz. Decibel (or
volume) range of human speech is from zero (0) to approx. 45 decibels.
Human hearing capabilities is fairly consistent with the speech ranges. However,
frequencies below that of human speech require a higher decibel range to be
heard. The lower the frequency, the higher the decibel must be in order to
be heard (as illustrated in the chart above from the American Audiology
Association).
EVP’s
There
were several EVP’s captured. Most of which were captured in the front
opening of the cave and near the center of the cave (Station 2).
EVP
1 – 100430_001 1:21 - In Station #2, Investigator asking a series of
questions, last one was “How did you die?” then response saying, “Here he
comes!”
657Hz -87dB (decibel well below human voice
capability)

EVP
2 – 100430_002 1:01 Back of Station #2 – sounds like 3 syllables (“Bo Tee
Hay”)
L234.45
Hz R153.21 Hz -72 dB (frequency and decibel well
below human voice capability)

EVP
3 – 100430_002 1:01 Back of Station #2 – sounds like 3 syllables (“Bo Tee
Hay”) Same s #2 but different female
voice
L
242.54 Hz R 211.35 Hz -72dB (frequency and decibel well below
human voice capability)

EVP
4 – 100430_007 0:51 Deeper in Station #2 – Asked, “Is there anybody in here
with us?” Response, “Brush”??
L
288.41 Hz R 219.25 Hz -72dB (frequency and decibel well below
human voice capability)

EVP

L
165.79 Hz R 185.86 -72dB (frequency
and decibel well below human voice capability)

EVP
6 – 100430_009
0:36 Asked, “Can you come toward this red light and hum the
A,B,C’s?” response
<pause> “e,F,g” very faint, sounds like a
child.
L
154.73 Hz R 154.42 Hz -72dB (frequency and decibel well below
human voice capability)

EVP
7 – 100430_011 0:06 Asked, “How old are you?” Response, “10” Child voice?
L
530.57 Hz R 110.62 Hz -75dB (frequency and decibel well below
human voice capability)

EVP’s
8, 9 and 10 - Drums, some seem to be in response
to answers. There seem to be two (2) different drums played at different
times. Both of which sound to be that of a hand drum. The first drum is a
bass sounding drum while the second drum sounds to be a higher frequency
sounding drum such as a “bongo”. The areas where the drums were captured
were in the stage area of the building and the outside church area. When
the drum sounds were captured at the stage area, an investigators thought
they heard drums and stated so on the audio recorder. This was the only
time the investigators actually heard the drum playing but they sound loud
enough on the recorder that you would think someone would have heard them.
The frequency range of the drums are all under 100 Hz with a negative (-)
decibel range (-35 to -58 decibels.
CONCLUSION
Our rating system:
Haunted – Definitive evidence of “Ghosts” or “Spirits”
Paranormal activity is present – Evidence there is something
paranormal present, but lacking the certainty or evidentiary
proof of “ghosts” or “spirits”
Paranormal activity may be present – Something is occurring but
uncertain if it is paranormal,
more research is required.
Inconclusive - There is something going on but can’t prove it
is
or is not
paranormal.
Paranormal activity is not present – No evidence of anything
unexplainable. All reported activity and evidence can be
explained by natural or logical means with a high degree of
certainty.
As there were several personal experiences (not backed
up by Data), anomalous EMF reading of 54.7 - 62.2 and 7 voice EVP’s, most of which are direct answers to
specific
questions that all fall well below that of human capability (frequency and
Decibel) as well as 4 audio recordings captured of “drums”, it is the
opinion of Ghosts & History Of Southeastern Tennessee, Inc. (backed up
by data) that the Indian Cave of Blaine, TN warrants the classification of “Haunted”.
