WELCOME TO G.H.O.S.T.

Bellwitch, Adams, TN

Although there are several theories as to who the "Bell Witch" was or where this entity came from, one thing is certain......There was something there. Why it came or how it came can only be theorized.

The "Bell Witch" is the only case that is documented as a murder or death occuring at the hands of a ghost or entity. There are many versions of the accounts of what happened in the Bell home in Adams, TN. Some differ in the details but the overall accounts tends to be the same from source to source. Below is one description of the accounts that can be found on the web.

We have a copy of the original manuscripts written and kept by the son in the home as well as several other documents from the time. From these documents we will conduct research of our own to compile our own theories and accounts based on original documents rather then the typical write-ups found on the web. Until then...enjoy the account below from "The Bell Witch Haunting" ; by : Pat Fitzhugh, Author / Historian  and  Season of the Witch ;      by : Troy Taylor , Author

 G.H.O.S.T. Highlights
The "Bell Witch" is a sinister entity that tormented the Bell family between the year's of 1817 and 1821. John Bell moved his family from North Carolina to Robertson county, Tennessee later known as Adam's . One day in 1817, John Bell was inspecting his field's when he encountered a strange-looking animal. He shot at it , but the animal vanished. That evening , the Bell's heard banging on the outside of the house . The sound's continued each night , but with more force. The children were awakened at night by scratching sound's on the bedpost's. Before long their bed cover's were being pulled off and their pillow's tossed to the floor . The noise's began to sound like faint whispering voice's of an old woman. The Bell's youngest daughter, Betsy, began having brutal encounter's with the entity. It pulled her hair and slapped her, leaving visible print's on her body. John Bell told his closest friend and neighbor, James Johnston about the happening's . Johnston and his wife spent the night at the Bell's and they experienced the same phenomena. Over time the entitie's voice became loud and understandable. It sang and even carried on conversation's. The word finally got to Andrew Jackson in Nashville. John Bell Jr. and Jesse Bell fought under Jackson in the battle of New Orleans. He decided to pay a visit. As soon as he got there he started having experience's first hand. He heard the voice's and noise's. The next day he and his men had enough and left. Jackson was later quoted saying " I'd rather fight the entire British Army than to deal with the "Bell Witch". The "spirit" continued to express it's dislike for "ol Jack Bell", and vowed to kill him. As John's health worsened, the "spirit" tortured him severely. Knocking his shoe's from his feet and slapping and beating him. John Bell breathed his last breath on December 20, 1820. After his death the family found a small vial of mysterious liqiud that John had taken the evening before his death. They gave some of the liquid to the family cat and the cat died almost instantly. The "spirit" spoke out "I gave ol' Jack a dose of that last night and that fixed him." They threw the vial into the fireplace and it shot up the chimney in a bright, blue flame. During the burial of John Bell the "spirit" sang and laughed loudly. The "spirit" visited Lucy Bell in April of 1821 and told her it would return in seven year's. In 1828, the "spirit" returned and centered it's visit around John Bell Jr. It discussed with him thing's like the meaning of life, Christianity, A need for spiritual reawakening and more. It was said the "spirit" even predicted the Civil War, World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II. Three week's later the "spirit" bade farewell, saying it would be back 107 year's to visit John Bell's most direct living descendant. That would be in 1935, the closest living descendant was Charles Bailey Bell living in Nashville. It is believed that when the "spirit" returned in 1935 it stayed in Adam's Tennessee haunting the area to this day. There is a cave on the property that is thought to be the home of the "spirit". Noise's, voice's and sream's can be heard coming from within the cave. To this day paranormal activity still carrie's on!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Source's : The Bell Witch Haunting ; by : Pat Fitzhugh, Author / Historian  and  Season of the Witch ;      by : Troy Taylor , Author
